2000 - 2005 VP & GM BU Global LCD and Plasma TV, Philips CE, Eindhoven - NL
Responsible for the global LCD & Plasma TV business. The organisation included Product Strategy, Innovation, Marketing, (Initial) Purchasing, Product Development including production start-up in the Regions and Global Business Planning responsible for the price positioning, volumes and margin.
The organisation was located in 3 different sites (Eindhoven, Bruges and Singapore) and customers in 4 different Regions.

The revenues were growing from € 20 million in 2000 to € 2.4 billion in 2005, with an EBIT of 4%. The Global market share grow above 12% which was a strong improvement compared to the traditional Philips TV business. The objectives, as defined in 2000 where met during this period.

Issues successfully addressed during this period;
- The Globalisation of the TV business.
- New Partner supplier for key components (LCD and Plasma panels).
- Integration of new Partners in the supply chain.
- New Technologies: picture tube to LCD and Plasma panel, analogue to digital.
- New competitors (PC, IT, Telecom, Internet industry).
- Change from Country/Regional management to Global business management.
- Change from regional supply chain to a Global supply chain.
- Significant shortening of Innovation and Development cycles.
- Improvement of integral cost, quality and speed in the total business chain

1997 - 2000 VP and GM Philips Digital Competence Group, Burges - Belgium
The Responsibility was to define and lead the Digital (Broadcast) TV strategy of BU Television.

In Europe the digital TV development was very different per country, sometimes without clear consumer benefits. Via a prudent cooperation approach with other parties the investments were kept low. This resulted in profitable market share gains.

During 1998 the USA Digital Competence Team in Briarcliff was added to my responsibility. When I took over the market expectation and thus investment level was far too high. During 1999 the Briarcliff Product Creation Team was closed and the activity incorporated in the overall TV Product Creation.

1995 – 1997 Global Program Manager Philips Upmarket Television, Bruges - Belgium
Responsible for the Global Upmarket Television Product Strategy and Programming.

Two important changes have been initiated. The globalisation of the Upmarket TV Business. Consequently the skills of the team the consumer requirements, products and Platforms had to be adapted. Already in 1996 the group introduced successfully products in Asia Pacific, Latam and USA.

The need to improve the differentiation in the market of Philips TV. With the introduction of the PixelPlus engine and the “Design Line TV concept” Philips established new TV categories. Both were far ahead of the competition and have resulted for Upmarket TV in a leading market share position with double digit EBIT. Upmarket Television represented a turnover of € 700 million.

1993 - 1995 Region Manager Philips CE - Latam and GM Philips Caribbean, Miami – USA
Responsible for the Latin America activity of Philips Consumer Electronics (excluding closed market Brazil) and Philips Caribbean a regional sales organisation. Turnover
€ 300 million and > 8 % EBIT.

Next to the normal business activity, the image of Philips Audio in the Region was successfully improved with the Campaigns: “Are You Ready For Philips”. Consequently the market share and profitability increased.

For Television TV the focus was on cost reductions and supply chain flexibility. This was obtained by moving the production to our Mexican border zone facility resulted in taking 9 % costs reduction.

During 1994 I established a new sales office of Philips Caribbean in Panama and closed the Miami operation.

1988 - 1993 Business Unit Manager Philips Consumer Electronics, Buenos Aires - Argentina
Responsible for the Philips Consumer Electronics activity of Philips Argentina.

Early 1989 the Argentinean economy entered into economic crises resulting in hyperinflation. I lead the restructuring to a BU organisation, creating simplification and focus. Redefinition of our marketing, sales, distribution and local production strategy resulted in increased positioning of our products portfolio and significant cost reduction.

The new Business Unit included all core departments (sales, marketing, logistics, industry, service and F&A), reached a turnover of € 140 million, became highly profitable with double digit EBIT and market leadership positions in all TV and Audio categories.

1985 - 1988 Consumer Goods Manager Philips, Caracas - Venezuela
Responsible for the definition and implementation of the marketing strategy of all Philips consumer products (TV/Audio, White Goods and Small Domestic Appliances).
The task was to select from the Philips basked the right products looking to consumer, market, production and investment possibilities, and prepare a professional introduction.
