As HR director within Europe my main goal is to set up a European HR organization and to integrate the newly acquired European companies into the Canadian mother company. This involved changes in the organization structural, culture change and creating common HR policies and procedures throughout Europe. This included introducing programs in the area of regular performance appraisals, rewards and recognition, recruitment, management development, training, exit interviews and succession planning. It also involved developing and executing a consistent European-wide compensation and benefit program for all employees.
Within the new organization the development of the managers is a major ongoing task with the introduction of concepts such as performance management reviews boards, balanced scorecard and team development. Considerable time is spent on personal coaching of managers within the organization. Within Germany I am responsible for maintaining close contact with the worker councils. In the rest of Europe I have dealt with legal labor issues concerning incentives, downsizing and disciplinary actions. Furthermore I maintain close control on compensation and benefits through out Europe.
I am also a member of the executive management team.

Interim Human Resource manager Alstom Paris;
Rail parts division UK, France and Spain- 450 employees:
As interim human resource manager within Alstom responsible for creating and managing the organizational and human performance side of a new organization. Under my supervision the following work was carried out: development of new vision and culture framework, organizational architecture including roles, responsibilities and job descriptions, set up and execution of European wide communication, design and development of a competency model, design and execution of skill assessments.
Also responsible for design of a human resource structure for the new organization, which entails programs for: recruitment, career development, appraisals, and training.
Recruitment of 100 persons for the new organization.
The work called for close contact with workers councils in France as downsizing and reallocation of the employees throughout France was needed.
Work also included advising on the set-up of training design, development and the roll out of a new SAP system. Roll out of the new organization took place in the UK, France, Spain and Australia.

Responsible as interim HR manager for the HR aspects involved with
re-engineering the customer service/ planning processes and SAP implementation. Tasks included next to managing the HR department of 3 consultants was to develop an overall change-plan which consisted of communication planning, a change-readiness survey, an impact assessment, a training needs analysis and training plan. During my work as HR manager normal tasks such as resource planning, recruitment, appraisals and training development were carried out
