Engaging with Cap Gemini Ernst Young (CGEY), to create, develop and promote the e-commerce initiatives addressing the SME market.
Market re-assessment and review, alternative strategy exploration.

Employing CGEY to develop business case and implement e-commerce initiative focusing the needs of expatriates.
Strategic development of e-commerce businesses, operational management and recruitment.

Fully listed plc in the business of providing a) Hi-tech solutions in relation to order fulfillment and b) engineering components businesses, now earmarked for disposal.

Development of business strategy and its implementation
Created and developed our new strategy, to focus on technology business at expense of selling engineering component businesses. Company announcement recently communicated to all 1500 shareholders.
Developed and directed Operational MD’s in the production of their business plans. e.g. a) Initiated and lead the team that won the exclusive European distribution rights for a unique product. Result: On target sales, over £1 m in first year and customer base expanded.
b) Refocusing one business from being a ‘manufacturer to order’ to a customers service provider offering 24 hour service.
Originally recruited in 1997 to devise and implement ‘turnaround’ strategy as Company in breach of bank covenants and sever lack of investment. Sold the ‘jewel in the crown’ 5 months later on P/E 15 generating £8.2 million.
Corporate activity
Search, selection criteria, negotiation, heads of agreement, contracts, due diligence and full circular compliance with Stock Exchange’s Yellow Book.
Acquisitions: Black & Luff £1.7m; Ewen Engineering £2.1m; Peer Conveyors £150k, NEC Chain £50k; AirBoss Royalty Agreement. Disposals: Ross & Bonnyman £8.2m; MCM £2.1m; Pesca £1.6m
Fund Raising: MBO; Actively involved in investigation and preparation and presentation to advisors and venture capitalist.
New business start ups
Negotiation and development of business plan to operate new venture, potential business of £600k with profits of £300k.
Development of IT strategy and implementation
Responsibility for identifying, defining, cost justifying, selecting, negotiation and project managed implementation of ERP system across seven operating sites. Result: Baan IV
Communications using leased lines and ISDN back up. 5 sites WAN, 70 user licence

Risk identification, analysis and management
Implementation of Corporate Governance, Combined Code and Turnbull. e.g.

Investor and professional advisor relations
Organised and promoted the Company at Institutional investor and private equity exhibitions and presentations.
Review and selection of new professional advisors, including: auditors, solicitors, stock brokers, registrars, and registered office. Reduced fees by total of £70k p.a.
Negotiate and arrange corporate bank and lease lending facilities and charges.

SHARP ELECTRONICS (UK) Ltd. Manufacturers, distributors and marketers of business equipment and consumer goods. UK £300m turnover.Net Worth £20m.
Financial Controller 90~97 : 24 staff ( No FD) Responsibility extended to credit control, with £30 m ledger and IT strategy.
Discovered and campaigned for recovery of Duty from Custom & Excise on interpretation of EU Law. Received £400k refund and £150k saving per annum thereafter and defended five separate claims of dumping from EU and Monopoly & Merger commission.
Fund raising: Created joint venture with Lloyd Bowmaker to rent and maintain photocopiers direct to national accounts and blue chip businesses. Additional Rental income of £2m after two years and profits £400k. Appointed Company director of Sharp Rentals Limited.
In 1994 lead the Company in a search for a new integrated IT solution that would serve the multi-business activities. Result: ‘Invitation to Tender’ awarded to SAP R/3.
Successful implementation, became platform for global roll out.
Finance Manger 87~90 : 11 staff. Responsible for all aspects of finance and accounting.
Introduced on-line banking and dedicate treasury function as profit center, Income £1m+ p.a.. Incorporated reporting structure for newly built manufacturing plant.
Management Accountant 85~87 : 5 staff
Upon joining, discovered significant error in the calculation of interest income going back three years. Result: received £160k arrears and £3k (20%) basic salary increase.

83 to 85 SYMPHONY GROUP PLC (Price Waterhouse client) Manufacturer and retailer of kitchen furniture. Company Accountant.
Store openings 12 to 26 in 12 months. Expanded with no additional resources.
Implementation of financial controls and procedures from scratch.
Persuaded loss adjuster of substantial lost earnings due to fire at newly opened store.

Discovered £1.1m error in plc accounts.
Seconded to tax department for 4 months.

Located error in tender acceptance due to foreign exchange, £25k mistake averted.
