Royal Berkshire & Battle Hospitals NHS Trust (t/o £160m, 4,200 staff)
· Reported directly to the Chief Executive and was an Executive Board Member
· Led a change programme to identify the vision, values, strategic direction and organisational structure of the Trust
· Responsible for estates, property, accommodation, security, health & safety, catering, portering, cleaning, IT, procurement, patient services, volunteers and contractors through 700 staff and an annual budget of £30m
· Won approval for a £126m project to close the Battle acute hospital in Reading and sell the site with outline planning permission for a commercial redevelopment to partially fund the redevelopment of the Royal Berkshire acute hospital and the transfer of services. I led this scheme from concept through options appraisal, public consultation, PFI and treasury business case approvals, planning approvals and for two years of construction.
· Increased case note availability at outpatient clinics from 93% to over 99.2%
· Achieved receipts of £4m+ from the sale of surplus property assets

Touche Ross Management Consultants
· Reported directly to a Senior Partner
· Responsible for forming the Business Process Reengineering group at Touche Ross
· Led business planning, product development, marketing, sales & delivery activities and grew my team and revenues from zero to £1.5m per annum. Client base was mainly from the manufacturing and commercial sectors.

EARLY CAREER (1970 to 1986)
Alcan Aluminium - Canada

· Principal Engineer Based in UK Head Office I led teams of Project Managers and Contractors on major engineering projects at Alcan’s sites throughout the UK e.g. installing new rolling lines, and the sale of capital assets following plant closures.
· Chief Engineer Responsible for maintenance and engineering operations at an Aluminium Smelter in Quebec, through 200 staff. Aluminium smelting is a heavy 7x24 process operation.
· Senior Industrial Engineer Led a small team implementing process improvements to extrusion and rolling mill lines at various sites in the UK.
· Shift Supervisor This was a graduate training role. I was a shift supervisor in the casting plant of a facility in northern Norway.
