Summary
For the past 15 years I have been working with SME and larger firms to help them increase sales, decrease costs and rapidly improve shareholder value.

This has been achieved by (a) assisting them to re-engineer existing operational performance in order to maximise productivity and profits and (b) to achieve significant growth via M&A, MBO or MBI via funding from 3i, Nomura and SEEDA, amongst others.

Additionally, I have provided front and back office intelligence to JP Morgan, MSDW, CSFB, Barclays, Nomura, Citibank, HSBC, etc – covering prospectus information on country and market risk, with industry, debt & equity predictions.


Finance and Strategy
Developed inward investment and economic development agency – with links to US (NY and CA), providing accountancy, personnel, premises, legal and tax advice (1994-99).

Advising on innovative (i.e. MBI/MBO/M&A deals designed to maximise liquidity and “upside” benefits via bonds, warrants, and debt and equity) deal structures.

Targeted potential M&A deals for Silicon Valley Joint Venture (1994-2000).

Re-engineered operational supply chain with analysis and ERP system, reducing costs by 10% pa (1997-8) and 7% (1998-9).

Negotiated acquisition of Nomura subsidiary for City firm (Sept 2001).

Invented strategic econometric forecasting tool that predicts business growth/decline in association with Dun & Bradstreet (1997).

Interim Managing Director of subsidiary of BP Nutrients. Successfully reversed 20% pa losses and facilitated trade sale (1992) via MBO / MBI.

Created consultancy subsidiary achieving £4m pa sales in first year (1994).

Assisted 22 firms to obtain VC money (1990-2000).


Marketing
Directed £1.8m pa marketing department – generating £30m pa in sales.

Headed regional market research team. Used advanced quantitative and qualitative tools. Successfully reduced procurement costs by 9% and improved sales by circa 8% in 1998 and again in 1999 across SE England.

Negotiated £6m from the EU to support business training (1995-2000).

Implemented regional ERP system to link sales “funnel” to contracted sales.

Arranged multi-cultural campaigns to targeted ethnic minority groups.


Operations
Directed research recommending £1.7 billion pa strategic investment into roads, rail and incubators (1999-2000).

Commanded Territorial Army training centre (1983-5) including marketing, recruitment, psychometric testing, medical reviews and enlistment.

Directed management and strategy consultancy – achieving £12m pa at 55% gross margin.

Negotiated supplier volume discounts amounting to savings of 12% of costs.



People
Helped 89 firms to obtain Investors in People (IiP) award in four months.

Commanded military HR team with 9,000 full-time staff to achieve IiP award within 18 months from cold start.


Quality
Used Business Excellence Model (EFQM) to improve operational efficiency and reduce managerial overhead by 12%.


Sales
Developed master sales strategy, winning two £36m contracts (1998 and1999).

Achieved £700k sales to capital markets within six months for information service within new Dotcom business.

Personally sold £3m in management and strategy consultancy (1992-3).

Achieved £12m sales for management and strategy consultancy (1990-4).

Powerfully influenced £1.7 billion pa investments with successful secondments as Chief Knowledge Officer, Chief Executive and Head of Marketing.
