Work Experience

Chris has more than 30 years experience at an international level in business and Information Technology. He heads his own company, BusinessNext Ltd, which assists clients that recognise the need for radical change in order to compete in a technology-enabled world. His particular expertise is in facilitating the strategic thinking process for Boards and management so that they can formulate strategies to drive growth and shareholder value through customer and employee satisfaction.
Chris was previously with DMR Consulting Group, the consulting arm of the Amdahl/Fujitsu organisation. There, he was a Senior Director responsible for client engagements in IT strategy, business re-engineering and IT architectures. He also conceived and initiated the Future Business Lab, an e-commerce strategy unit. Chris uses facilitative techniques that enable clients to discover and implement their own strategic solutions. He is also a skilled communicator, and has led many executive education sessions, most recently in relation to the Internet and electronic commerce. He has consulted in a wide range of industries including banking, financial services, insurance and assurance, manufacturing, and government, and the oil, telecommunications and construction industries. He has also functioned as an interim IT Director for a large insurance company.
In addition to consulting, Chris has significant experience in marketing and pre-sales with senior client management. He has also led the development of consulting practice techniques, and led the Management Consulting Practice at DMR in the U.K. from 1990-1991.


Chris Ogden has conducted assignments in Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Belgium and Denmark. At DMR, he led work in almost all areas of IT and business strategy, business/IT architecture and business process re-design. Recent example of strategy engagements include:
· For a clearing Bank, facilitation of the development of a bank-wide, 10-year vision and strategy for Money Transmission.
· For an Irish Bank, strategic executive road-map for technology, and a strategy for managing technology alliances.
· For a UK house-builder, facilitated the Chairman, Chief Executive and Board in the development of its three-year strategy.
In 1995, he was a thought-leader and author on Customer Dialogue Management for Quest Futures, an Atlanta-based think-tank. In 2001, he was a co-author of “The Relationship-Based Enterprise, published by McGraw-Hill.
Chris was with DMR from 1979 to 1999. Before that, he spent 8 years with Queen’s University at Kingston, Ontario, where he had managerial and technical positions responsible for the technical strategy, software and computer operations of the University's main computing centre.
Before going to Canada in 1970, Chris was a Senior Programmer with Ferranti Ltd in Edinburgh, where he was involved in developing Ferranti’s machine tool control systems and the first digital display software used at the UK Stock Exchange. He began his IT career with the Marconi Company Ltd where he assisted in the design of the first IBM - System/360 architecture computers built in the UK.
Chris has an M.Sc. in Computing and Information Science from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultancy and an Associate Member of the Institute of Directors in the U.K.
