JDSU is world wide market leader in fiber optic communication components. Strong emphasis on technology.
Exceptional growth (1998 - 2000): 10 M$ -> 100 M$; 250 -> 650 employees.
Culture change from development group into full-blown production organisation.
Involved in directing these changes in two production plants and realizing a third facility.

Main Achievements:
· Established new assembly facility in Los Angeles, USA.
· Implemented new production organisation. Breakthrough in output efficiency (see below), quality, employee satisfaction
· Realised new product generation with enhanced functionality, incl. prod. equipment (2002).
· Assembly factory: 6-% improvement yield realised -
o Yield from 75 % to 80 %, - 6 % reduction overall operation cost
o Statistical Process Control (SPC) introduced
· Wafer factory: yield breakthrough - realised improvement from 0.5 to 4 %.

Manager engineering / R&D (2000 – )
Main duties:
· Product- en process development, assembly plant laser modules.
· Operational leadership of the development department and of strategic projects (av. 10 colleagues, “HBO”/academic level).
· Technical strategy (road map) for development and production of the laser package, JDSU world wide.

Product Manager (R&D/marketing) (1999 – 2000)
Main duties:
· Development of laser products for cable TV networks.
· Extensive customer contacts.

Manager Wafer Production (1998 – 1999)
Main duties:
· Responsible for delivery of laser type CQF707 – increase from 1000 to 8000 monthly under time pressure, InP-wafer fab. Process yield was major point of concern, with difficult-to-control processes (crystal growth).
Span of control: ~ 35 people.

Leader research group (Assistant Professor).
Main duties:
· Responsible for research program optoelectronics (2 PhD, 8 masters theses).
· Various courses Physics and Applied Physics, Study Committee Applied Physics.

Main duties: Scientific research. International collaborations; coaching of PhD students.

1986 - 1991 FOM-Institute AMOLF, Amsterdam
